On 17 June, at the Permanent Council of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), in answer to Russia’s distorted narrative on the Second World War, Lithuania drew attention to the dangers of using historical revisionism as a tool of state policy.

According to Lithuania’s representative, history must be understood and accepted as it is. It must not be reviewed or changed retroactively. It also should not be manipulated for political purposes or in order to justify past crimes.
The representative of Lithuania also mentioned the 80th anniversary of the mass deportations of the country's population to Siberian gulags by the Soviets and noted that consequences of these large-scale systematic crimes against the peaceful population were still being felt.
