On 18 February, on the margins of the Munich Security Conference, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide. The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy said it was necessary to isolate the aggressor, Russia, further and reduce its ability to continue the war.

“Both global and European geopolitical challenges – Russia’s war against Ukraine, security of strategic infrastructure and energy independence have brought the Baltic and Nordic states closer together. Thus, we will continue to work hand in hand to strengthen regional cooperation formats, especially in the security field,” Landsbergis said.

The meeting discussed Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, further support to Ukraine, security challenges in the Baltic Sea region, measures to boost security on NATO’s eastern flank, and bilateral relations between Lithuania and Norway.

The Foreign Ministers agreed that Ukraine, which defended itself from Russian aggression, needed uninterrupted support, especially military support.
