Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis at a special session of the UN General Assembly: “Russia will not stop until it is stopped”

On 23 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, spoke at a special session of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

“Tomorrow marks two years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Indeed, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine began a decade ago when Russia occupied and illegally annexed Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and destabilised the Donbas region of Ukraine. Then, we couldn’t stop Russia and see where that led us. Russia will not stop until it is stopped,” Landsbergis said.

According to Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, Ukraine has proposed a clear path to peace – a 10-point peace formula.

“We call on all nations to support this initiative and not to fall into the trap of so-called “peace plans” aimed solely at making Ukraine surrender to the aggressor’s aspirations,” Landsbergis noted.
